This Month's Tip:
What We Need To Provide You With Fast, Accurate Estimates
When your client is pushing you to get an estimate for their job as quickly as possible, phone tag is the last thing you need. At Diecrafters, we’re looking to make your life easier by minimizing the confusion and maximizing the efficiency of the estimating process. With that in mind, here are a few things to keep in mind when requesting an estimate:
Allow Sufficient Time for Job Planning
Before your job is estimated, contact Diecrafters to see how we can help. Very often, we can suggest an alternative layout that will save your client money and cut down on the turnaround time. In addition, let us know all the non-technical details. Do you need a production schedule with your quote? How soon do you need the quote back? Would you like the quote to be faxed or e-mailed? Give us detailed instructions as soon as possible to avoid call backs and excessive voice-mail tag!
Provide All Specifications and Details
When it comes to providing accurate quotes, there’s no such thing as an unimportant detail. Job title, flat and final sizes, number of pieces, and type of stock are just the basics. Many more details are required for us to offer you a quick and accurate estimate, and they vary based on the type of work we’re performing. Here are a few examples:
– For embossing jobs, be sure to provide us with the details about the embossing style, type of die and whether it registers to print. Is it a single-level, multi-level or sculptured die? The costs vary greatly for each one, so be sure to let us know what you have in mind. Top view and side view drawings are useful.
– For a foil stamping project, the style and color of foil are important. While some foils are readily available, unusual styles may cost more or be in limited supply. In addition, let us know exactly what is being stamped. Is it an outline or a solid area? Is it in register to print or blind?
– Pocket folders range from basic to complex, so don’t take any details for granted. Avoid surprises by letting us know things like how many glue flaps are required, whether capacity scores exist, etc.
